Giants of Africa has grown exponentially during our 12 years of operations. Our grassroots beginnings take us back to 2003, where our first camps ran in Nigeria, and included a Big Man Camp for those over 6-foot-8. These camps ran for several years and showcased the raw talent in Africa.
The Big Man Camp transformed over the years and eventually faded as a regularly scheduled camp. After 2005, the Giants of Africa name was proudly displayed on the camper’s jerseys. Another camp with early beginnings is our Top 50 Camp that continues to be a part of the GOA itinerary.
Top 50 Camps ran alongside the Big Man Camps throughout the early 2000’s and continue to run today attracting talent throughout Africa. By 2010, Basketball Without Borders extended their reach to Nigeria and attended the Giants of Africa Big Man Camp.
Although Giants of Africa no longer runs the Big Man Camp, we have expanded in recent years developing our team and campers. Each year we strive to reach more countries and communities, while remaining true to our roots – using basketball as a tool for growth, education and empowerment. For information on 2015, see our Camps page.
